TIMES…
“If someone forgets their past, they will have to relive it again”,
Jorge Santayana
A painting called ‘The Great Experiment’ was completed by Ilya Glazunov in 1990. One of its final locations is a replica of the famous foreign cartoon ‘How long will the honeymoon last?’ Stalin is shown under the arm of the bride in her wedding dress while Hitler is depicted as the groom. On the 45th anniversary of Victory, there were huge lines waiting for the exhibited work. Then the entire Hotistics stigmatized the Molotov-Ribbentrop protocols and appeared on television screens in unanimous delight and approval of I. Glazunov’s work.
30 years later, in 2020, on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Victory, the same cartoon with condemnation of the same protocols published the magazine “Dilettante”. This time, the official and television screens unanimously branded the magazine and its authors with shame, not the protocols.
Truly, such times…
